Clay – A type of Wash Off Masks – let’s Rinse it off.

The first type of mask I used in life was a clay mask, or more like a “mud mask”, which was introduced by my mother when I was 15.  The mud mask still exist in the market and I would like to share my 20+ years of experience with this clay mask.

Name of the mud mask used to be my every week mask is BORGHESE Fango Active Mud for face and body, which is a well-known mud mask that works on many people for years.  When I go to BORGHESE website recently, I found some new colourful mud available online which is very tempting to purchased.

The brand is from Italy and ingredient contains mineral-rich mud which sourced from Tuscany’s volcanic hills with other nourishing ingredients.  To me, the ingredient list sounded just like the Innisfree Jeju Volcanic Pore Clay Mask or Innisfree Super Volcanic Pore Clay Mask from Skin18, the only different is that they use use volcanic mud from different countries. The material and result was a bit different though maybe because BORGHESE was intended for body clay also so it is softer and I strongly suggest to wash off BORGHESE in 10 minutes or less (this is what they suggest also on many blogger’s website) because the content is very strong that might cause irritation.   This happened to me many times when I was young as I always waited until it all dried out to wash them off which lead to a weird dryness of my skin which could last for 2-3 days.

I personally like clay mask as it can really deep clean your skin, I never stop using them since I started.  However, there is one very important point for those with face pore problem.  This was experienced from a pore problem friend of mine.  She has big huge red pores all over her faces, they are coloured in light pink and red, do not look very nice when you get closer to the face.  She was crazy on those clay mask and it helped with her pore which always gets better for 1-2 days after her clay mask day.

After a while, we found out that those clay mask actually did not work too well for her and instead the process kept on enlarging her pores!!!  One time we went to a spa and a lady suggested her to use a tightening pore care wash off mask after the clay mask to tightening up her pores and it worked so well after all.   So remember if you do think your pore is larger than usual people, please use a pore care mask to tightening up those pore after clay mask.
