The goodies inside Lemon

Lemon is a very special fruits that has many positive functions in life even though it is considered to be a “sour” fruit.  Lemon Tea is one of the most popular drinks in Hong Kong, majority of the crowd love this kind of drink.  My mother used to put opened lemon inside the fridge and explained that can remove refrigerator odors and i still do that in my fridge nowadays.  Whenever i get a sore throat, my mother always made me a hot lemon water drink and asked me to drink all of it to ease my pain.

Before i go further with Lemon skin care function, I want to talk about how lemon can really freshen the Fridge and remove refrigerator odors with ease.  Fridge is a place to put many left-over food from time to time, it is absolutely normal to have abnormal or even bad smell from the fridge.  I used to put those refrigerator freshener but they only produced a strong flowery smell to cover up the odor but they do not “kill” the original food smell.  Lemon is a really good cure in this case, what you do is to cut a lemon into slides and put it everywhere inside the fridge.  Usually the smell goes away in several hours but you can surely leave it on for days or even weeks.

With such special function, I was curious on what can it do to the skin?   Many said Lemon can kill bacteria, cure health problem, anti-aging usage, healing, brighten skin, toning the skin color, freshen your breath, etc.  I personally had never use fresh lemon to mask my face, i only used cucumber before, so i did a little research on the web and found out some breaking news: I Am an Asian. I Used Lemon Juice on Skin for Two Days and I Ended Up Having Darker Circular Pigmentation?

I was kind of glad I did not mask myself with Lemon juice when I was young after reading that.  Anyway, so here is the question: can lemon juice really help on lighten the skin?  I found another article on “how to” use a lemon to lighten your skin.  This article is from wiki how which is more reliable but honestly i do not think i will try either:  How to Use a Lemon to Lighten Your Skin (From wiki how)

For me, I rather use factory made skin care products then make my own natural mask, bit reason behind is the mess (as i mentioned many times before, I used honey and cucumber to mask myself when i was young and the clean up time usually last longer than the “mask” time).  The second big reason why is that most factory produce skin care products with test, research, focus group with FDA (Food and Drug Administration) certification behind.  So this means those factories made products just for our skin, so why not spending only US$1 to US$4 to buy them instead, right? 😛

Mask Products that are selling at that contains “Lemon” as ingredient:
