BB Cream Discovery

When i first heard of “BB cream“, i thought it was another name for “foundation” and had no idea what was the differences between the two.  Way before BB cream, my sister recommended me to use “Tinted Moisturizer” because foundation i had been using always gave me a “powder” look and i did not like it.

I was once a big fan of Laura Mercier and i was in love with their “Tinted Moisturizer”, eye liner and then i started using their skin care products from Cleanser, Toner, Serum to Moisturizer.  Honestly their skin care line is not amazing but as mentioned so many times: changing brand habit from time to time is supposed to be a good thing.

If you need heavy coverage on a daily basis, BB cream might not be your favorite.  It is always good to have a minimum coverage with a maximum of “functions”, so i choose to use BB cream or Tinted moisturizer as a daily basis and foundation on special occasion.

Here is what i found out after many years:

  • Foundation:
Most coverage function and selection has to be careful according to your own skin color tone. Some Foundation might not have a good moisturizing level but a minimum of hydration do apply in here.
  • BB cream: (Beauty Balms)
Which is a combination of SPF, primer, and anti-aging ingredients—plus, they offer light to medium coverage
  • Tinted Moisturizer:
Provide hydration, minimal coverage and sun protection

At last, here is a little  Information from the WikiPedia*: BB cream was originally formulated in the 1960s in Germany by dermatologist Dr. Christine Schrammek to protect her patients’ skin after facial peels and surgery.  Korean companies focused on the BB cream development and it is a cosmetic item sold mainly in Asian Market, now spreaded to the Western market, even worldwide.
